braking bad

While still under warranty, we took our vehicle to the dealership for an oil change.  As part of the routine, they checked everything while we were there and told us we needed tires and brakes.  The prices they quoted were extremely high so we sought these things elsewhere.  We successfully got the tires on sale at a much more reasonable price, but life got in the way of tending to the brakes, so here we are a year later, just getting around to taking care of that particular issue.  Because there were no other warning symptoms, it was easy to put this on the back burner of "things to do".  I dropped the van off at the mechanic's shop earlier today and will pick it up later, brakes repaired and ready to go.  Like most women, I cannot get excited about car maintenance, and hate to fork over the money necessary to do the repairs.  I once got a set of tires for my car for an anniversary gift which was nearly the end of our marriage, but he has learned not to give me practical gifts any more and things are better between us,   Once I get another opening in my hectic schedule, it's time to rotate the tires and the anticipation is palpable as I prepare for another exciting adventure as a car owner.
